 Krug's Jordan, Healthcare, and Wood
November 21, 2008
The use of wood in healthcare facilities has become somewhat of a controversial issue over the years. Concerns regarding the threat of bacterial breeding within the pores of the wood have had those in the healthcare industry steering away from this material. However, manufacturers have been experimenting with new ways of making wood safe to use and thereby opening up design possibilities for those in this field. Krug, in particular, has developed an anti-microbial finish for their healthcare line, Jordan. The anti-microbial additive is not only present in the top coat, but is inherent throughout the wood, making it impossible for bacteria to survive.
A finish this powerful also had healthcare experts and others weary of its repercussions on the environment, however Krug’s finish is Greenguard certified. The finish protects the integrity of the wood as well. Test results proved there was no loss of finish, no loss of sheen and no noticeable difference between tested and non tested pieces of wood after one minute of aggressive sponged application and 10 minutes of soaking in Virox 5, Virex 256, Ultraquat, and Rescue cleansing solutions.
Krug’s Jordan Line is one of the lines for the healthcare industry and all its products are Greenguard Certified. Visit Krug.ca to see some of their seating options and call us at Patrick Cassidy to get more information on Krug products or for a free consultation.
