Out with the Old, In with New College!
April 17, 2009
The University of Toronto, St. George Campus, is well known for its vast collection of historical buildings and their sustained structural integrity over the years. However, the newer colleges, such as Innis or New, should not be overlooked when considering building and interior design. New College is one of U of T’s fastest growing colleges with more and more students making it their residence of choice. New College is fresh, funky, urban and one of the best places to “chill” on campus: PCA recently had the pleasure of providing New with furniture their students could “chill” on. Our knowledgeable consultants worked closely with the college to give them bright, bold, innovative and modern furniture that their students simply reveled in. The space is full of backless racetrack-shape lounge seating in colours gray and orange with modular systems of lounge seating and real wood tables combined. We’ve been told that while students love to lounge and work, they also love to sleep in these seating systems and say they are extremely comfortable! We also installed café tables to overlook the courtyard which inspired the college to start building plans on a new café bar to be ready in the next few months. Thank you to the team at New College for their support in allowing our creativity to run wild for this project.
